The Bird Assemblage of the Darwin Region (Australia): What Is the Effect of Twenty Years of Increasing Urbanisation?

There has been considerable urban development in the Darwin region over last twenty years; as for most fauna Australia since colonisation, potential effects to bird assemblage were expected be disastrous. To provide a broad overview of changes, survey data from 1998 and 2018 extracted BirdLife Australia’s ‘Atlas Australian Birds’ database. A total 165 species categorised into primary food source feeding guilds levels specialisation. This was integrated ArcGIS along with land use change mapping investigate its impact on assemblages. no significant overall numbers when all sites analysed. However, separated those increased urbanisation or decreased greenspace, several showed number species. For majority species, analysis types found difference proportion within assemblages between 2018, regardless level greenspace; exception being that primarily feed insects, where just significant. An using community sorted specialisation also despite habitat changes. These findings suggest although there region, communities are remaining relatively stable.
